The Honda Element is a compact crossover SUV. Originally introduced in 2001 as the model X, it was designed for the sole purpose of taking cross country road trips in. That didn't stop anyone from using nitrous kits in it.
- Production started 2003
- Still in production today
- Nitrous Kits are available
- Nitrous kits are used to add more power to this stock engine
This Honda is something that one wouldn't think needed more power. A simple, family shaped car for getting groceries in. But that didn't stop owners from wanting a fast car. Oh no, they started using nitrous kits on this vehicle for optimum power. For this little 4 cylinder engine, nitrous kits can add a great amount of power. Depending on which kit you are running you will make about 25 - 200 HP with no problem. Some of the more common kits that you get in complete kits make about 50 - 75 HP which is completely safe to run on a stock engine.
Nitrous kits for today, are very safe. Unlike some of the technology of yesterday, we now have the micro chip. And thanks to that some nitrous companies have been able to use this to add more protective features to your cars engine. With hardware like Active fuel control, (A Zex Patent) and hardware that monitors your cars throttle position sensor you can safely activate nitrous with out any of the negative effects.
The way that the wide open throttle concept works, is very simple. There are programs that connect to your ECU that let you activate your nitrous only at wide open throttle. This is important when using these kits. Nitrous is an oxidizing agent. When means that it will burn your gas faster. This can cause problems if your not getting enough fuel. Pre-detonation which can cause an engine knock, and also running too lean. Both of which the nitrous kits of today can prevent.
